Olyligting training dayThis Saturday from 10:30-2:30 we’re running a 4 hour Olympic Lifting training day at Andfit for members ($50) and non members ($100). We’ll have 3 coaches on. Its limited to 20 spaces and we only have 5 spots left so if you’re keen to jump in email wykie now [email protected]. This will be aimed at beginner to intermediate level lifters and you’ll all benefit from it hugely!

Its testing week! We’ve made some great changes to our testing standards, hope you enjoy! As I always say, the progression from one level to the next is between 6 months to a year. Measurable, repeatable tests like these on a quarterly basis is the key to staying motivated and on track with your training. Make a big effort to get to all sessions this week and lets set some benchmarks!

We’ve got an exciting August planned! Our goal is for you to really refine your lifting technique and get a in depth understanding of the Snatch and Clean+Jerk. Technique, technique, technique and more technique will be the theme. We’ll have the Thursday night MAX OUT nights but in class we’re going to do some video analysis, loads of reps at lighter weights, olympic lifting specific mobility work, front squats, over head squats, push press and a bunch more cool stuff!

Olympic lifting training day – Saturday 16th August 10:30 – 2:30

We’re hosting a 4 hour Olympic lifting workshop on Saturday the 16th from 10:30 – 2:30. This will be incredibly valuable for your lifting and I encourage you to jump in! Only 20 spaces (7 already taken).

This is the last week of our Squat 10 program. We’ll be re-testing 1RM Back squat next Monday! Its also our final week of Gymnastic July and we’ll have some gymnastic test next week as well to give you the opportunity to smash those goals you set!

If you are working on the skill of kipping then incorporate that in todays gymnastic WOD and if you’re working on bodyweight strength do these movements strict.

Today’s workout is one of the individual workouts at the Crossfit Games next week. Luckily we are going to be doing it in partners so don’t worry. Its great to see these basic movements in the games. It’s not all about lifting heavy weights. Running and rowing are still such great testers of fitness.

Coach Wykie is picking Matt Fraser to win but I will stay with Rich Froning. The man has won it 3 times in a row and I believe he will do so again. Anyways we will see I guess.

Congratulations to these to legends. What a great achievement winning the Clean Challenge. Awesome effort guys.

Remember if you squat sets is getting hard get somebody to spot you ok. Good effort yesterday on the snatches and cleans. I was really impressed with the quality of movement I saw. I encourage you to strive for perfect movement even if we are doing high reps of the olympic lifts. The goal is to make the reps all look the same no matter how tired you are. The safest way is also the most effective way of doing lifts. ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT.
